Making the decision to hire a ute is a great way to save you time and money trying to transport loads. Utes can carry a lot that normal cars may struggle with and are better at transporting rubbish without damaging your car or making it smell. This makes them an invaluable vehicle in many situations.
Know Your Limitations
Knowing the limitations of the vehicle is important as well as the laws surrounded by towing and loading a ute. Our utes for hire have a 1 tonne towing capacity and can only tow single axle trailers. If you need to know the maximum load that our utes can carry we can discuss the GVM when you book.
If you plan on carrying a load with our ute hire options then making sure it is secure is very important. You may receive fines for unsecured loads, especially if your load ends up all over the road. Luckily, there are many ways to ensure your load is secure in the ute’s tray and on the ladder racks which are provided as a free optional extra with our ute hire options.
Have The Right Gear
Having the right gear is important when securing your load. You don’t want frayed ropes or broken netting and tarps that will come undone as you drive. This can be dangerous for both yourself and others on the road while driving.
Using ratchet straps and thick rope is a good place to start. If you need to protect your items as they travel use towels or blankets to cover the item before strapping it down. Make sure not to strap it too tight either or you could cause damage. If you need any additional extras such as blankets and ropes with your ute hire just ask us during your booking.
Securing Your Load Safely
No matter what you are transporting it is important to secure your load safely. Therefore, taking the extra time and not rushing during the loading process can save you a lot of headaches.
The easiest way to secure your load would be to use a net over the tray. Otherwise, a strapped down tarp is a good option. Make sure your ropes are connected to secure places on the vehicle and don’t dangle near the wheels where they can get tangled and cause problems.
